If you are visiting lots of National Trust properties it might be cheaper to join the National Trust.
Sport: There are lots of sporting activities available nearby – tennis, cycling, the Weald Sports centre in Cranbrook, water sports at Bewl Water, Bedgebury Forest is only 15 minutes away – it has many trails and activities (such as high wires and riding).
Cycling: There are some great cycle routes. Bedgebury Forest and Bewl Water are the best off-road cycle trails: see www.kent.gov.uk, www.cycle-route.com or www.bbc.co.uk.
Walking: There are many public footpaths in the area and further south there are some stunning beach walks, such as the Seven Sisters: see www.sevensisters.org.uk, www.walkinginkent.co.uk or www.kent.gov.uk.
Beaches: The best beach locally is Camber Sands - 3 miles from Rye, which is a 30 minute drive.
Rye is a lovely town and well worth a visit.
